Bingo is played on a scorecard that’s made up of 25 squares. To win the game, you must be the first person to get 5 squares in a row.
Bingo is popular in Chicago and its suburbs like Naperville, Aurora, Evanston, and Schaumburg. Anyone doing a fundraiser should consider Bingo as it is a game that the entire family can play together. Everybody loves playing games of chance and winning prizes. So using Bingo as a Fundraiser is an easy money maker.
How to play Bingo:
First select someone to be the “caller”. This person should be someone who speaks clearly and confidently. The “caller” will turn the Bingo Cage and call the Bingo numbers on the balls that come out of the cage.
Give out at least 1 scorecard for each player. Bingo scorecards have 25 randomly numbered squares on them, with the word “BINGO” written across the top. Your goal is to cover 5 of those squares in a vertical, horizontal, or diagonal row. Some people will also play 4 corners or a race to cover every spot on the card.
The participants can have 1, 2, or 3 of our Bingo cards. Our Bingo cards are cardboard and have the sliding windows. Participants will close the sliding window when they hear a number called that is on their scorecard. When someone gets five numbers in a row, they will yell “bingo” to win the prize.
Explain how a Bingo card is laid out. In standard Bingo, there are 75 different letter-number combinations. Each letter-number combination corresponds with a square on the scorecards. For example, all of the numbers in the “B” column on the scorecard correspond with “B” letter-number combinations. If the caller chooses “B-6,” you would look for the “6” square under the “B” column.
How to make money using Bingo:
There are many ways to raise money with bingo games. Just be sure to check your local laws regarding games of chance. The key is do NOT make it a cash payout.
- The common approach is to charge a small amount such as $1 per game per card. You can also offer unlimited games for $20 to $100 depending on the cause you are raising money for or the quality of your prizes.
- Another approach gives tickets to winners. Then winners can redeem winning tickets for different levels of prizes. In this format, single ticket winners select from one prize category while multiple game winners select from higher-value prizes.
- A 3rd approach is to raffle off prizes using a double ticket system. When someone wins a game, they get half of a ticket pair and the other half is placed in the raffle drawing. each winner is guaranteed a prize, but some prizes are worth much more than others.
